2. About This Policy

This EV Policy sets out how electric vehicles should be charged while at the Property and the responsibilities of Users in respect of safe charging.

Any reference to Property in this policy includes any garden, grounds, outbuildings, garages or communal spaces at the Property.

This EV Policy forms part of your contract with us and is to be read in conjunction with the Booking Terms and Conditions. A breach of this EV Policy will constitute a breach of contract.

3. Who Does This Policy Apply To?

This EV Policy applies to all members of the Group and such other Permitted Visitors to the Property. It is your responsibility to inform all members of the Group and any Permitted Visitors of this policy and to ensure compliance.

4. Domestic Chargers Are Not Permitted

Most EVs are supplied with a domestic charger, commonly known as a ‘granny charger’ or a ‘trickle charger’. These cables recharge the EV using a domestic power source via a 3-pin wall socket.

Domestic chargers are, under no circumstances, permitted to be used at the Property. Their use creates a fire hazard and may invalidate our property insurance. The use of domestic chargers is strictly forbidden.

We, and the Owner’s Representatives, retain the right to carry out reasonable inspection, on a without-notice basis, to ensure that domestic chargers are not in use at the Property.

In the event that you, the Group, or any Permitted Visitor are found to be using a domestic charger at the Property, such action will be considered a serious breach of these terms. Upon confirmation of such unauthorised use, the Booking will be subject to immediate cancellation without a refund of any amounts previously paid.

You are solely liable for any damage or loss suffered by us as a result of your, the Group’s or Permitted Visitor’s unauthorised use of domestic chargers.

5. The Dedicated Charging Point (DCP)

5.1 About the Charger

The Beach House is equipped with one Dedicated Charging Point: a myenergi Zappi smart EV charger. Full instructions and safety guidance are available at the Property and on the Website.

A compatible charging cable is provided at the Property for guest use. Guests are responsible for ensuring their vehicle is compatible with the charger before arrival.

5.2 Requesting Access

Please advise Curated Spaces prior to your stay if you wish to use the EV charger. Access to the DCP is a Booking extra and must be arranged in advance. A personal PIN code, required to activate the Zappi, will be provided to you in your Booking Confirmation or pre-arrival communications.

5.3 Charges and Payment

Use of the DCP is subject to a fixed charge of £10 per night, for each night of your stay on which access is required. This charge will be applied to your Booking and must be paid at least 24 hours in advance of your arrival, in accordance with the Booking Terms and Conditions.

The fixed charge is non-refundable from 24 hours prior to your arrival. Use of the DCP will not be permitted where payment has not been received.

5.4 Operating the Zappi — Instructions

Please read these instructions carefully before use. The Zappi is configured for overnight charging between 00:00 and 05:00. Please plan your charging requirements accordingly.

Overnight charging (standard):

  1. Plug the provided cable into your EV.
  2. Enter your PIN code when prompted, using the left-hand button.
  3. Charging will commence automatically during the overnight window (00:00–05:00).

Boost charging (outside overnight window):

  1. Press any button to wake the Zappi.
  2. Enter your PIN code when prompted, using the left-hand button.
  3. Press the (+) button to set a boost charge.

Note: The overnight window is configured to take advantage of off-peak energy rates. If additional charge is needed outside these hours, please use the boost function as described above. Please plan your charging schedule accordingly, particularly for last-day departures.

5.5 Permitted Users

The DCP is exclusively for the use of you, the Group and the Owner’s Representatives. Permitted Visitors to the Property who are not part of the Group are not permitted to use the DCP without our express prior permission.

5.6 Fair Usage

The DCP is subject to fair usage. We reserve the right to charge a reasonable additional fee where usage exceeds a fair amount.

5.7 Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

  • allow anyone to use the DCP if they are not authorised to do so;
  • allow children under the age of 18 to access the DCP;
  • use any splitting cables or modify the DCP in any way;
  • smoke in the vicinity of the DCP;
  • use the DCP for any commercial EV such as a taxi, ridesourcing or ridesharing vehicle (including Uber, Lyft or similar services), or for any delivery, transport or other commercial purpose.

5.8 Availability

We do not guarantee the availability of the DCP and its unavailability shall not constitute a breach of the Booking Terms and Conditions. Information regarding the nearest public charging points will be made available where possible. We do not accept liability for any consequence arising from the failure of an EV to charge.

5.9 Authorisation

Authorisation for your use of the DCP must be obtained prior to Booking, in writing, and will typically be confirmed in your Booking Confirmation. We reserve the right to withdraw this authority at any time and for any reason.

5.10 Liability

Use of the DCP is at the risk of the User. We do not accept any liability for loss or damage sustained by the User or their EV as a result of using the DCP, unless the damage was caused directly by our negligence.
